[english] Long track speed skater Christine Nesbitt looks back on an impressive season. After numerous World Cup and World Championship medals she is now considered to be a definite podium candidate in the middle distances, and in that sense this past season really was a break-through season for her. [english]After continuously showing progress throughout this season, it all came together for Denny Morrison at the two final competitions of the season, when he earned his first World Cup gold in Calgary, and was able to add two more silver medals and a bronze medal at the World Single Distances Championships in Salt Lake City, along with several personal bests in the short distances. [english]After one bronze medal in the 1000m at the World Sprint Championships in Hamar three weeks earlier, Denny Morrison showed progress once again at the World All-round Championships in Heerenveen, where he picked up two silver medals in the 500m and the 1500m. However, after placing fifth overall last year, a tenth place overall may have been disappointing for him. Even though not all Canadian men will look back equally pleased on the World Sprint Championships in Hamar after (almost) falls took them out of the competition, Denny Morrison is more than satisfied after his debut at the World Sprints. He managed to place seventh overall after two solid 1000m’s and winning a bronze medal in the second 1000m, and is now looking forward to the World All-round Championships that will take place from February 9th until 11th in Heerenveen.
